Medical complete as Rangers set to conclude bumper £4.2m transfer

The biggest issue facing Rangers this summer was always going to be moving on players who Philippe Clement deemed surplus to requirements.
Perhaps, the biggest surprise, is players like Todd Cantwell and Ianis Hagi remain at the club whilst others with lesser reputations seem set to leave Ibrox.
Sorry, We Need To Talk About Harry Kane
One such player is Jose Cifuentes who, according to Greek media outlet Yellow Radio, has taken another step closer to leaving Rangers.

Jose Cifuentes ticks last box on way to completing Rangers exit
The 25-year old midfielder has been spotted in Greece at the airport as he looks to complete a deal that has been in the works for sometime.
Respected Greek journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos first broke the story with a £4.2m obligation to buy clause raising a few eyebrows in the Rangers support.

“Jose Cifuentes, who will be Aris’ next transfer move, arrived in Thessaloniki on Sunday evening for a permanent settlement.
“The yellow and blacks had reached an agreement with Rangers for some time, for the loan of the 25-year-old midfielder from Ecuador, with a mandatory purchase option, but some bureaucratic issues of his previous loan to Cruzeiro, delayed his arrival in Greece.”

The same outlet has now confirmed that the medical has been passed and he could be playing as quickly as the weekend.
How much money Rangers can make out of Jose Cifuentes deal
There are murmurs that Rangers are covering Cifuentes’ wage for the year, even so, it is still a good deal for the club.
On a reported £16,000 per week according to Salary Sport, until the end of May, the Light Blues would have to contribute around £575,000 to cover the midfielder’s wages.
Signed for £1m as his Los Angeles FC contract ticked down, it doesn’t take a genius to do the maths.
Rangers stand to make a profit of around £2,625,000 for a player who barely kicked a ball for the club and clearly has no future – if that rumour is true, of course.
If Aris Thessaloniki contribute anything to Cifuentes’ wage then that figure goes up.
That’s a lot of money that can be reinvested into the midfield or forward line.
Players like Hannibal, Oussama Targhalline and Morgan Whittaker would immediately strengthen the squad and would be warmly received by the Ibrox faithful.
The downside is, quality players at their age come at a cost.
It was hoped that Cifuentes was going to be the type of player who would upgrade the starting XI, a year down the line and the money that he will bring in might.
Rangers will have money to spend, but the issue all summer has been creating space in the squad.
There wouldn’t have been many complaints about Cifuentes being released to get his wages off the books given what he contributed; however, deals don’t get much better than this.
