I will not play again: Nottingham Forest key player has decided to quit due to…
Nottingham Forest signed 11 new players during the summer transfer window and one of those was Elliot Anderson who joined from Newcastle.
The player signed in a deal that saw Odysseas Vlachodimos leave Forest and sign for Newcastle, with both clubs looking to meet the PSR threshold.
Anderson signed for the club for £35 million and it was a deal that already looked a good one.
Alan Shearer has praised Anderson already this season and it would appear as though Newcastle didn’t really want to sell him.
Eddie Howe spoke out on the transfer when it happened and Newcastle had their hand forced as they were staring down the barrel of a hefty points deduction.
Anderson has settled in nicely at Forest and since arriving he’s pledged his international ties to England – turning out for the under-21s.
In pre-season, Anderson picked up a minor injury and Forest might have felt their luck was out but it didn’t prove serious and is quickly becoming a big player.
Elliot Anderson stars for England under-21s vs Azerbaijan
This proved a walk in the park for the young Three Lions outfit at Ashton Gate as Ben Futcher’s team qualified for the under-21 European Championship in style.
England ran out 7-0 winners and for Anderson, it will forever be remembered as the game when he bagged his first international goal for the Three Lions.
The versatile performer started the game in central midfield and did well throughout the contest as Azerbaijan were put to the sword.
Nuno Espirito Santo will be delighted with this performance and given that Forest are somewhat short of midfielders for Monday’s game, this will be a timely boost.
After the game, Anderson posted a message on Instagram – showcasing a picture of him with his Player of the Match accolade.
