UNBELIEVABLE NEWS;Philip Clement receives a heartbreak contract

Robert Propper’s imminent move to Rangers could be part of a double Dutch swoop with the club weighing up a move for Marco van Ginkel.

Propper is undergoing a medical in Manchester today after Gers agreed a fee with FC Twente for the 30-year-old central defender. But now the Scottish Sun clams that the Ibrox club have been monitoring former Chelsea starlet Van Ginkel and could make a move for the once highly rated midfielder. He is available as a free-agent after leaving Vitesse Arnhem – Propper’s hometown club – and the 31-year-old is thought to be a live option for Clement and sporting director Nils Koppen.

Van Ginkel was tipped as the next big thing in Dutch football and made an £8million move from Vitesse to Stamford Bridge back in 2013, penning a five-year deal. However, his dreams were wrecked just a few weeks into the season when he ruptured his ACL in a League Cup game against Swindon Town, ruling him out for seven months.

Van Ginkel returned to action the following March and was loaned to AC Milan for the 2014-15 season. However, another injury saw him left on the bench and struggled to nail dow a spot with the Rossoneri. Loans to Stoke City and two to PSV followed and he claimed two Eredive titles with the Eindhoven club before another cruciate injury kept his out for eight months.

The Netherlands international returned to PSV in 2020 on loan, making the move permanent the following summer. 18 months later, he agreed a return to formative club Arnhem, where he has just left.

Despite his injury record, Clement sees enough pedigree in Van Ginkel to make him an option worth considering after pulling out of a move to try and land Sevilla midfielder Joan Jordan.

Kick off is packed full of insight into the season ahead.
