Sky Sports drop bumper Sam Lammers transfer news as Rangers work fee miracle
Rangers have started the summer clear-out with multiple players lined up to leave the club in the next few days.
One of them is Sam Lammers, a player deemed surplus to requirements from the squad in January and whose form was enough to see Philippe Clement rewarded with a permanent transfer and decent fee.
The 26-year old broke records in the Eredivisie in the second half of the season but there was never any hint of a return to Rangers.
Rangers exit inevitable for Sam Lammers
His goalscoring exploits could see Nils Koppen land a profit for the forward with Sky Sports detailing Lammers’ imminent move to Twente.
Speaking towards the end of the season, it was clear that the former Atalanta and Sampdoria striker was facing an uncertain future:
“I am under contract with them and I will be the first to talk to them. I haven’t really had any contact with Rangers in the last six months. We will have conversations after this season.
“I don’t know what happens next. I don’t want to worry about that right now. The only thing I can say about it is that FC Utrecht has indicated that it wants to continue with me longer. I don’t know what happens next.
“That will all only happen after these matches, because I don’t want to do anything that could cause me to lose focus. The most important games of the season are coming and I hope to be able to score goals in them too.”
Sam Lammers fee shows Rangers have turned the corner
According to Anthony Joseph of Sky Sports, Rangers have done well out of the deal:
“FC Twente are closing in on the signing of Rangers forward Sam Lammers.
“An initial fee of around £2.5m has been agreed, with add-ons potentially increasing that to just under £4m.
