SHOCKING NEWS:Wolves fc announce the sack of three key players minutes ago..
Wolves expressed interest in several centre-backs in the summer, but ultimately failed to land one much to the frustration of supporters.
Max Kilman left the club early in the summer to join West Ham United in a £40 million deal.
Wolves had plenty of time to sign a replacement.
Players like Dara O’Shea and Nayef Aguerd were looked at late on.
But in the end, Wolves did not get anyone, instead changing their approach slightly at the end of the window and moving for defensive midfielder Andre from Fluminense.
Wolves are now in a worrying situation, with only three centre-backs available following the season-ending injury to Yerson Mosquera.
Wanderers will almost certainly look at signing a new centre-back in January – and it’s possible we could see the club try and sign Adam Webster from Brighton.
Wolves hold an interest in Brighton defender Adam Webster and could make January swoop
Earlier this week, there were some rumours circulating on social media about Wolves potentially having had a deal in place to sign Adam Webster from Brighton at the end of the summer transfer window.
Webster has been out of favor at the Amex Stadium in recent times. Last term, he only made 18 appearances across all competitions, although he did pick up an injury in November which ruled him out for several weeks.
There weren’t any suggestions during the transfer window that Wolves were interested in Webster.
But journalist Nathan Judah and Liam Keen spoke about him on the latest E&S podcast.
Keen has dismissed the claims that Wolves had a deal in place to sign him. However, he does say that there was, and still is, interest.
He said: “It’s one they could potentially go back for. Because he was a player they liked, a player that was discussed internally.
