SHOCKING NEWS:Sean Dyche confirme the departure of Seamus Coleman few minutes ago
Everton are in need of defensive reinforcement this summer, especially after the exit of Ben Godfrey to Serie A side Atlanta.
The defender was used sporadically by Sean Dyche last season and prompted a desire for Godfrey to seek pastures new and left the Toffees in something of a sticky situation in terms of defensive depth.
Although both James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite are more than strong enough options in defence, their back-ups don’t carry the same quality.
Mason Holgate and Michael Keane do not possess the quality the Toffees need if they wish to fight higher up the table, a strong squad is needed rather than just a strong starting 11.
Hence why the club have been linked with a plethora of defenders this term.
Galatasaray defender Davinson Sanchez has been the one most strongly linked with a move to Merseyside this summer.
And, thanks to his latest comments, where he spoke about being linked with moves back to the Premier League, his transfer to Everton now seems like it could be closer than ever.
“It is (links to the Premier League) a reflection of good work . I am a person who believes a lot in working, in having the ability to overcome, in not being in a comfort zone. The comfort zone always limits your possibilities, one can go much further than where one is,” Sanchez said to Caracol.
“Teams and possibilities come, being on the radar of important teams, makes you proud because you know that you are doing the job well. For the moment I have to join my team in the preseason in the next few days and we will see what is best for me and for the club.”
Davinson Sanchez moving to Everton would be a smart move from the Toffees
The fact that the Colombia international has admitted that he’s “proud” to have Premier League links showcases his current mindset.
