SHOCKING NEWS;Rangers confirm the resignation of Nicolas Raskin suddenly
Chris Jack has admitted he doesn’t expect Nicolas Raskin to exit Ibrox to complete a move “onwards and upwards” away from Rangers.
The Belgian midfielder has only made two Premiership starts this season having been little more than a peripheral figure under the management of Philippe Clement over the last year at Ibrox.
Raskin had previously expressed his desire to play in the Premier League [Proximus, 13 October 2023], but Rangers Review journalist Chris Jack insists that the 23-year-old is fighting for his future at Ibrox rather than looking for his next move.
Writing for The Rangers Review (9 October) he said: “A statement made in an interview this time last year when Raskin expressed his desire to one day play in the Premier League, is often used to denigrate him by his detractors.
“The former Standard Liege midfielder does not look destined for a move onwards and upwards at present.
“Indeed, it is his Ibrox future that he must focus on, and that he is perhaps fighting for.”
Will Nico Raskin exit Ibrox after new Rangers transfer update?
Raskin arrived in Glasgow with so much promise under Michael Beale and while his early showings in Rangers colours suggested that he could be a star man at Ibrox, he seems to have lost his way slightly recently.
Some pundits and fans expected the 23-year-old to depart this summer having barely featured under Clement last term, but for whatever reason, the midfielder has decided to stick it out and fight for his place.
He may not have hit the heights expected of him, but Raskin showed in the win over St Johnstone last time out that he still has a role to play in this Rangers side. Whether or not he is a regular starter will be down to him on the pitch.
When he is given an opportunity to impress Clement, he simply has to grab it with both hands. Too often, he has failed to take his chance when he has been named in the starting XI and time is running out for him to show what he’s got.
