Morgan Gibbs-White faced an anxious wait to see whether he’ll be picked in the latest England squad, and Lee Carsley has now made the announcement.

 

Nuno Espirito Santo missed having his key man at his disposal last time out as Morgan Gibbs-White was suspended against Fulham after picking up a second yellow against Brighton.

The circumstances surrounding the red card were controversial, as after the game, an independent panel decided that it was an error and went in favour of Gibbs-White 3-2.

 

This didn’t change his suspension though, as he sat out at the City Ground.

 

Nottingham Forest fans had been anxious about the prospect of the midfielder now missing out on the England squad after his suspension, and now it’s finally time to find out.

Lee Carsley makes England squad announcement

Morgan Gibbs-White has been the standout performer for Nottingham Forest this season, despite only scoring one goal.

 

His ability to start attacks and create things in the final third have seen many of his teammates benefit already, which is what led to his first England call-up.

 

Lee Carsley has now made the announcement on his England squad, just after 2pm.

According to Daily Mail, Morgan Gibbs-White has made the squad, which is a show of trust from Carsley.

Carsley and Gibbs-White worked together in the under-21 setup.

 

He gave Gibbs-White 15 of his 18 under-21 caps and relied on him in the No 10 role during the team’s European Championship victory last year.

 

Interestingly, Carsley was spotted watching the Nottingham Forest vs Fulham clash at the weekend, despite Gibbs-White not being involved.

Gibbs-White admitted he cried after receiving the first England call-up, which just shows how much it means to him.
