SHOCKING NEWS;Everton announces the return of former key player-Richarlison
Everton can re-sign Richarlison for £50million if they want him back from Tottenham, Jamie O’Hara has joked.
Spurs signed the Brazilian forward from the Merseyside club for £60million in the summer of 2022 [BBC Sport], where he has made 68 appearances since, notching 15 goals and eight assists in that time.
The 27-year-old remains a fan favourite at Goodison Park, having scored over 50 goals in his 152 appearances for the Toffees, and he continues to struggle at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
A Toffees fan rang into talkSPORT on Saturday (28 September, 6:11pm), asking O’Hara: “What’s happening with Rich [Richarlison]?”
O’Hara responded: “Oh, you want him back?”, to which the fan replied: “We’d have him back in a heartbeat.”
“You can have him – £50million,” the talkSPORT host jokingly said.
Everton to re-sign Richarlison from Tottenham?
It is extremely unlikely any fans at Goodison Park would turn down re-signing Richarlison if not for the £50million price tag that would come with him.
Ange Postecoglou and Daniel Levy would, of course, be looking to make the least loss on the player, who has struggled to make the desired impact since moving to North London in 2022.
He has either failed to stay fit long enough to remain in the starting XI or Postecoglou has just gone with other options, leaving the Brazilian on the bench.
The 27-year-old, much like Neal Maupay, is a player who divides opinion in the Premier League, but Toffees fans love him for the passion and energy shown during his time on Merseyside.
Sean Dyche added plenty of attacking prospects to his squad over the summer, with Jesper Lindstrom, Iliman Ndiaye and Armando Broja joining, but Richarlison would still be a welcomed signing.
Of course, with Dan Friedkin closing in on his purchase of the club, the Toffees are much more likely to have more funds to work with over the coming transfer windows, so resigning Richarlison might not be completely out of the question.
