Shocking news;Celtic best player Daizen Maeda injury scare as winger hobbles off against Chelsea

The Japanese star was hooked with just 35 minutes in the clock after going down with a knock

Celtic could be sweating over the fitness of Daizen Maeda after the winger was subbed off in the first-half against Chelsea.

The Japanese winger was withdrawn after just 35 minutes at the Notre Dame Stadium, with Celts leading 2-0 against their Premier League opponents. Maeda required medical attention after going down with a knock and was unable to continue as he was replaced by Honduras attacker Luis Palma.

Maeda was able to walk off the pitch without the aid of the physio and didn’t appear to be in any serious discomfort. Brendan Rodgers wasn’t willing to take any chances though and the Parkhead faithful will be hoping his early sub was just a precaution.

Celtic have already lost a wide man to injury after Nicolas Kuhn picked up a knock in Wednesday’s 4-3 win over Manchester City. The German – who scored two and supplied a magical assist – wasn’t involved in the matchday squad tonight as the Double-winners rounded off their USA pre-season tour.

It was certainly an eventful afternoon in Germany as Rangers battled to an entertaining 4-4 draw with Union Berlin.

Philippe Clement wanted an improved performance from their poor showing in a 2-1 defeat to Birmingham City earlier this week and he got it. In the forward areas at least. Gers went behind inside the first five minutes when Janik Haberer escaped Jefte but Cyriel Dessers levelled not long a penalty before Tom Lawrence banged in a decent volley to make it 2-2. The same attacker then turned the game with a slick finish to give the visitors a 3-2 lead but it was all-square again when Haberer tapped home.

It was then 2-1 to the hosts as Jordan Siebatcheu netted a penalty before Tom Lawrence banged in a decent volley to make it 2-2.
