Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey is reportedly the subject of revived interest from a host of Premier League rivals ahead next summer.

Ramsey has been on the radar of several English top-flight teams for a number of years but Villa have always been determined to keep ahold of their academy product. That stance could reportedly change soon, however, with Ramsey’s contract gradually ticking down and his value dropping in tandem.

GiveMeSport reports Villa have set the end of this season as the time to reassess Ramsey’s situation as the 23-year-old will then have just two years left on his deal. At that point, it’ll be the most ideal time slot to maximise any potential fee gained; particularly important given Ramsey’s sale would act as pure profit toward the Premier League’s profit and sustainability regulations.

It’s also claimed Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle are among those interested in acquiring Ramsey’s services. All three clubs are said to be keeping a watchful eye on Villa’s stance as they are keen to bring in a high quality addition to benefit the homegrown quota, something that’s especially key in UEFA competitions.

The report from GiveMeSport suggests Villa would ask for upwards of £50 million to sell Ramsey, who has made 114 Premier League appearances to date. Across all competitions, the playmaker has contributed 14 goals and 13 assists in 131 matches for Villa, while he scored three times in seven games on loan at Doncaster Rovers in 2020.

Capable of playing on the left flank or through the centre as a number 10, Ramsey would offer useful versatility to any potential suitor. He’s an excellent dribbler, too, and his ability to pick out a pass between the lines cannot be matched by many of his Villa teammates. The only concern, perhaps, is his troublesome track record with injuries.
