Rangers manager Philippe Clement said that visa issues prevented his new signing Robin Propper from starting against Dynamo Kiev.
Clement said pre-match that Propper had to jet back out of the UK to collect his visa for paperwork to be processed, and as such has had less time to prepare with his new team-mates.
Propper was still named amongst four new signings on the Gers bench to face Dynamo in their Champions League third-round qualifier, but was not “fresh” enough to play any part in the match.
In quotes reported by The Rangers Review, Clement said it was a: “Tough decision not to start with Robin Propper, but it is more because he is not fresh for the moment.
“People don’t realise that if a player comes in, when you come to the UK there is a lot of work to be done with papers.
“He even had to travel outside the country to come back to get his visa, so today he was not fresh enough to start.”
Robin Propper yet to make highly-anticipated Rangers debut
It’s not often that a club in the Scottish Premiership can sign the captain of a side who finished third in last year’s Eredivisie, but that’s exactly what the Gers did by completing a deal for Propper on 1 August.
With one highly-experienced veteran defender moving on to pastures new in the form of Connor Goldson, six-foot-three Propper’s signing could represent a significant upgrade at Ibrox.

Philippe Clement will be hoping he can bring Robin Propper into his Rangers team as soon as possible
With the new season’s first two matches having passed without him since signing though, appetites are high to see the 30-year-old in a Light Blues jersey as soon as possible.
Particularly after Ben Davies was all at sea in the Gers’ 0-0 draw with Hearts on the Premiership’s opening day, the Ibrox faithful are crying out to see Propper – or at least something different.
With his visa issues hopefully behind him, Propper can quickly get up to speed with Clement’s squad and style of play – and once he’s nailed down a place in the team, don’t expect him to give it up lightly.
In other Rangers news, Clement risks missing the boat on a transfer for a prolific goalscorer who could be an upgrade on Cyriel Dessers.
