Sky Sports journalist confirms two Premier League clubs have made ‘concrete’ bids for £25m Everton target

Everton may be enjoying a fruitful summer, but this is not some spur-of-the-moment spending spree.
Each move will have been meticulously planned by Kevin Thelwell, the chief orchestrator behind this Toffees resurgence, and with sacrifices having been made, at last they are reaping the rewards.

However, that does not mean they are free from further setbacks, as Goodison Park remains far from the most ideal place for promising players to come.
Therefore, even if they have been trying to sign one target for months, the allure of more money or a more stable foundation will likely always trump what Sean Dyche can offer.
That could well be the case in this particular instance.
Sky Sports provide transfer update that impacts Everton
Although the last time Everton were linked with Max Beier came just ahead of the January transfer window, he likely remains on Thelwell’s list of targets despite the £25m price tag touted.
A release clause is always a fascinating element of a transfer, as it adds a brand-new dynamic for all parties involved.

The Toffees could well bypass Hoffenheim before they even get the chance to talk to their player, with the 21-year-old striker one of Germany’s more promising talents.
However, they will first have to contend with a couple of Premier League rivals, as Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg has just written: ‘Chelsea and Aston Villa have submitted concrete offers to Maximilian Beier.
‘Two more top clubs from abroad have made contact in the last hours. Leverkusen, still in the race. But no club has started negotiations with Hoffenheim yet. No total verbal agreements with the player have been reached.
‘Final decision within the next 14 days. The 21 y/o talented striker with a release clause of €30m (£25m).’
Who is Max Beier?
Having emerged through the academy of Hoffenheim, and thus enjoyed all the first few major milestones of his career with this side, the young marksman will have a great connection to the club.
But, as is often the case with a release clause, no negotiating can stop rival clubs from circling and getting their man for a set price.
Now a full-time German international as well despite his youth, it’s impressive just how mesmeric his rise to prominence has been.
Having been willing to bide his time, two loan spells to Hannover in the German second tier honed his skills, and having returned for last season, he instantly put what he learned into practice, notching 16 Bundesliga goals in his first full campaign.

However, what makes him so impressive is not his goalscoring, although it does help, but the way in which he utilises his 6 foot 1 frame to fend off defenders.
Mature beyond his years and well aware of where the back of the net is, perhaps this might be worth dipping into the Amadou Onana fund for, to beat Villa and Chelsea to this deal.

Everton make first move to sign £20m striker with a worse injury record than Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Everton’s quest to improve the squad is going swimmingly thus far, but there is still always the prospect that things could go up in smoke.
After all, for all the new signings that are being made, the looming threat that a star asset might depart will surely remain a worry for Kevin Thelwell and Sean Dyche until the transfer window slams shut.
All they can do in this situation is ensure that a contingency plan is in place, should Manchester United push for Jarrad Branthwaite again, or Dominic Calvert-Lewin reject another Everton contract.
This particular report seems to provide an alternative for the latter.
Everton make transfer enquiry for Tammy Abraham
The latest on this pursuit comes courtesy of Italian journalist Gianluigi Longari, who has recently taken to X to provide a much-needed update on the Toffees’ striker situation.
Ideally, Dominic Calvert-Lewin would stay and continue to battle with Beto and Youssef Chermiti, but for now, that seems unlikely.

So, it does make sense that Everton are interested in Tammy Abraham again, having been cited a £20m price tag at the start of the summer and having tried to sign him in 2023 as well.

Longari’s tweet might only be brief, but it poses a very exciting prospect for Dyche this summer.
He simply writes: ‘Everton have made an enquiry to AS Roma about Tammy Abraham.’
Is Tammy Abraham better than Dominic Calvert-Lewin?
Whilst debate over whether Abraham is a better player than Calvert-Lewin has raged for some time, given both are tall, English strikers who hit their Premier League peaks at similar times, realistically, there is little to separate them.
However, this close comparison extends outside just their physical and technical attributes, but also to their respective injury records too.
Whilst Everton’s main marksman has struggled with his fair share of setbacks in recent years, having missed 442 days of football since the start of the 2019/20 season, Abraham’s record is somehow even worse.
Naturally, his 507 days out across the same period is skewed by an anterior cruciate ligament injury sustained in 2023, but that remains a vital part of the story.
When he first moved to Italy, the 26-year-old starred under Jose Mourinho, scoring 27 goals in all competitions and helping fire Roma to the Europa Conference League title.
Previously, he also notched 15 goals in the Premier League during the 2019/20 term.

Calvert-Lewin would score 13 in that same campaign, later finding the net 16 times the following year.
With both tall, physical strikers with solid hold-up play and somewhat unconvincing finishing, it seems strange that Dyche would want to just swap his current man for the former Chelsea star.
However, with his contract winding down, it might actually make perfect sense.
