SHOCKING EXIT;Former director John Gilligan confirm as new chairman after John Bannet

Rangers chiefs are already under pressure this season after Celtic have had a strong start to the new campaign.

That is the view of finance expert Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider Rangers need a stable management team following the recent changes behind the scenes at Ibrox.

The Glasgow giants announced on 14 September chairman John Bennett has stepped down “with immediate effect for health reasons”.

Former director John Gilligan has taken on the role on a temporary basis until a permanent successor is appointed.

Rangers are already without a CEO following the departure of James Bisgrove earlier this year.

Philippe Clement’s side have also endured a tricky start to the season after dropping five points in their opening five Scottish Premiership games, while they have also had to settle for a Europa League place after missing out in the Champions League qualifiers.

Rangers pressure mounting after Celtic Champions League victory

Borson believes Celtic’s recent European victory over Slovan Bratislava is only going to increase the pressure on the Rangers boardroom.

He told Football Insider“They must have an interim executive team that knows what they are doing, otherwise, it’s impossible to manage things.

“These businesses are not the biggest businesses in the world from a revenue perspective, but they are from a public-focus perspective.

“There is scrutiny, complexity and loads of different people with their own views about how things should be operated.

“They need a stable management team.

“It is difficult and they are under pressure at the moment, especially when Celtic got such a great result in the Champions League because that’s going to put a lot of focus on the management team at Rangers.

“It’s been a tricky start to the season for them really, losing the first Old Firm and Celtic succeeding in the Champions League in a big way.

“They have got some big games ahead.”
