After all, the 53-year-old has failed to guide his team to a single win in the Premier League this season, having just bowed out of the Carabao Cup too.

Such a dire start can be somewhat excused, particularly after last season’s similar run, but with a trip to Leicester City this weekend it’s widely accepted that they need to start getting points on the board sooner rather than later.

Should he fail to do that, his job might actually be on the line.

There are many factors that will contribute to Sean Dyche‘s potential sacking, most of which are laughably not really related to football.

After all, with the unrest and unpredictability from within the Everton hierarchy, it’s still undetermined who is making this kind of decision.

Farhad Moshiri is perennially absent, and so it could be justifiably assumed that there is no one with the jurisdiction to actually dismiss the former Burnley man.

A loss and another diabolical performance on Saturday might make his position too untenable though, particularly with growing fan unrest.

Should that occur, someone from the Everton board has to make a decision. Arguably, his short-term replacement has been staring them in the face for some time.

Ole Gunnar Solksjaer could be a perfect fit for Everton

Although some sources suggest that Everton hold an interest in Graham Potter, the short-term success of this appointment seems somewhat risky given how contrasting his style is from Dyche’s.

Perhaps it might be more intelligent to opt for a temporary boss to see out the rest of the season.

Fortunately, one of the most successful caretaker managers in recent memory remains a free agent on the market, with Ole Gunnar Solksjaer yet to find another job after leaving Manchester United in 2021.
