Sean Dyche: Keith Wyness drops Everton sack verdict after shock news

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has insisted he “wouldn’t even be thinking” about sacking Sean Dyche if he was still involved at the club.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – insisted the Merseysiders won’t even be involved in a relegation battle this season under the ex-Burnley manager’s leadership.

Dyche’s Everton sit bottom of the Premier League with zero points and have conceded 10 goals in their first three games.

It comes amid shock interest from some in the Everton hierarchy in turning back to the club’s esteemed former manager David Moyes, who is out of work since his summer exit from West Ham.

The Toffees surrendered a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 against Bournemouth with just three minutes of normal time remaining on Saturday (31 August).

Everton are next in action against Aston Villa on 14 September.

Keith Wyness adamant Everton should not sack Dyche

Dyche, who is under contract until the end of this season, has finished 17th and 15th during his time at Goodison.

Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “If I was still involved with the club, I wouldn’t even be thinking about moving Dyche on.

He’s shown in the last two seasons that he has been the most important person in keeping the club together.

“He has done that alongside Kevin Thelwell despite their being an absent owner at the helm.

“Dyche has done a great job.

“I think he deserves time from the fans to turn this around with a new squad, and I believe he will do.

“He’s right for a relegation battle, but I don’t think we’ll be in there.
