Scott Wright transfer update as Rangers repeatedly make offers before August 30

Rangers are yet to receive concrete interest this summer for winger Scott Wright, according to Chris Jack.

Writing on the Rangers Review website [20 August], the winger has been “repeatedly” offered to the lower leagues of England with no.

Rabbi Matondo and reports of a move to Leeds United [Football Scotland] have been downplayed while Wright is more likely to leave Galsgow this summer as he is now in the final year of his contract.

Scott Wright is likely to leave Rangers this summer

At this moment in time, it seems that no current Rangers players are safe this summer until the transfer window slams shut on 30 August.

Alex Lowry, Adam Devine, and Tom Lawrence are also in the final year of their contract and, could also be on the move this summer if the Gers cannot find the funds to renew their deals.

Wright began the 2024/25 season as a regular starter under Philippe Clement, starting matches against Hearts and Dynamo Kyiv but has found himself back down the pecking order in recent weeks behind Václav Cerny, Matondo and Ross McCausland.

The Gers have placed a £2m price tag [Daily Record] on the attacker, his return of 12 goals and seven assists in 120 appearances will hardly be missed and all parties would benefit from an immediate departure.

It is now a waiting game for Wright to see if a club would be interested in taking the winger for the reported price, the longer it takes for a side to present themselves the more likely the Light Blues will need to consider lowering their valuation.

Rangers are in limbo waiting to offload their unwanted players to fund new signings and, with only 10 days left of the transfer window, Clement needs to accelerate his plans to avoid fielding a squad of underperforming and unwanted players.
