So sad;I will not play again: Everton key player has decided to quit due to..
Napoli attacking midfielder Jesper Lindstrom is now just one step away from completing a move to the Premier League to join Everton after completing his medical on Thursday, according to recent updates.
Lindstrom completes Everton medical
The 24-year-old is set to move to Merseyside on an initial loan deal with an option to buy. The Toffees will pay a fee of €3m to have the player on loan for the season, and will pay an additional €22m if the move becomes permanent, for a total cost of €25m.
According to updates from Fabrizio Romano, all that is left now is for Lindstrom to put pen to paper on the official contracts.
The Denmark international only moved to Napoli last summer, at a cost of €30m following an impressive couple of years with Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga, which included a Europa League final victory in 2022.
However, during a turbulent season at the Stadio Maradona, which saw three different coaches come and go in Rudi Garcia, Walter Mazzarri and Francesco Calzona, Lindstrom struggled to cement his place in the Partenopei line-up.
Will the Everton takeover saga ever end? That was the question on fans’ lips after it emerged that Dan Friedkin had ended exclusive talks with Farhad Moshiri.
The AS Roma owner was chosen by Moshiri as his preferred bidder, with the hope that he could assume responsibility for the club’s debts and give him at least some cash for his shares.
The British-Iranian investor is believed to want £50m in total for his 94 per cent stake in Everton, although that has raised eyebrows given that the club’s debts burden is around £800m.
With a number of third parties – now including Friedkin himself after he took over a £200m loan from MSP Sports Capital – involved in the club, the situation is becoming increasingly nebulous.
