SAD News:Mohammed Kudus ’embarrassed’ as he makes excuses for West Ham United incident
Mohammed Kudus admits he is “embarrassed” by his actions for West Ham United against Tottenham Hotspur as he was dismissed during the defeat, but has littered his case with excuses.
Kudus has already served two matches of a five-game suspension decided by the FA, having reportedly claimed he was affected by a tough time on international duty with Ghana in the previous days, and negative social media comments.
A report from The Times [6 November] suggests that the player’s reasoning for the incident attempted to justify his double violent conduct on 19 October, which has now seen the forward banned until December.
A three-man commission decided on the length of the ban at Kudus’ FA hearing, with the 24-year-old also handed a £60,000 fine.
Mohammed Kudus blames tough international duty for West Ham red card
A degree of sympathy goes for Kudus when he does admit his embarrassment at the situation, which saw him floor both Micky van de Ven and Pape Sarr in an act of stupidity with the game well beyond his side, despite having himself opened the scoring.
He captained his nation for the first time in their double-header against Sudan in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, as the Black Stars fell to a draw and a defeat against anticipated inferior opposition.
The difficult period culminated in ultimately letting his team, fans and Julen Lopetegui down back in London, and missing the entirety of November for his club as a result.
Kudus has been a tremendous player since arriving at the London Stadium but his 10 seconds of madness has set his team back at a time they need to stand up and be counted, for their club and their under-pressure head coach.
