SAD NEWS HE’S GONE, Celtic key player set to leave the club immediately due to…
Celtic have a cigar in hand as they are now 16 points clear at the top of the Premiership table.
Days after the drama of Celtic’s win over St Mirren on Sunday, the players did their talking on the field of play by notching up another three points against Dundee United.
Daizen Maeda opened the scoring in the first half, but it wasn’t until the final ten minutes that the home fans could breathe a sigh of relief when Reo Hatate doubled the lead.
There was a late change to Celtic’s XI because Nicolas Kuhn had to withdraw just before the start of the match and he was replaced by Hyunjun Yang.
The 22-year-old earned some much-needed starts over the festive period, including against the very same opponent during the reverse fixture last month.
At Tannadice, Yang didn’t impress, so how did he fare when handed yet another opportunity?
Allan Preston critical of Hyunjun Yang as Celtic beat Dundee United
Just after the hour mark, Yang was subbed off for eventual goalscorer Hatate and he failed to produce once again.
Allan Preston stated that the South Korean star just couldn’t get into the game despite Celtic dominating the ball.
The former defender told BBC Radio Scotland that Yang also played like a man who is ‘really short of confidence’.
“Yang just hasn’t got into the game,” said Preston. “He looks like a player that looks really short of confidence. His ball in was poor there.
“I have no doubt he has got really good ability, but Celtic just really miss Nicolas Kuhn.”
Yang’s stats for Celtic against Dundee United
The January transfer window is open and Celtic are expected to conclude some deals, with Kieran Tierney dominating headlines so far.
But that’s possible incomings, as you also suspect a few faces will also leave and don’t be surprised if Yang is one of those.
As he proved against Dundee United, he just isn’t proving that he is worthy of donning the green and white colours, with WhoScored rating his performance at 6.22.
