SAD News: Celtic Backed to Hire ‘unbelievable’ manager to replace Brendan Rodgers just now…
Celtic have been at the mercy of some financial punishments from UEFA for years now.
Pyro has been the topic of conversation at Celtic as the governing body tried to stamp out their use within the game.
Why Are Premier League Atmospheres So Bad?
UEFA took a hardline stance against three member clubs after the use of illegal fireworks during the Champions League and Europa League fixtures.
But this time, Celtic could feel the force of UEFA once again for something Brendan Rodgers may have done a half time during the Parkhead clash with RB Leipzig.
Neil Lennon thinks Celtic could face UEFA sanction for late half time show
Speaking during analysis of the first half, Neil Lennon says that when Celtic delayed the re-start of the second half, they could face a punishment from UEFA.
Lennon told TNT Sports, “This is quite strange because Leipzig are out, the referees out and Celtic aren’t out.
“That could be a UEFA fine believe it or not. Honestly, it’s all about the timings and I don’t know, maybe Brendan is just having a few extra words with a few of them.”
Celtic’s recent brushes with UEFA and what it has cost the club
Celtic were fined €20,000 for fans using pyro at Borussia Dortmund last month. In 2021, a banner displayed at Celtic Park against Ferencvaros also cost the club €15,000.
In 2020, UEFA fined Celtic €15,000 for the actions of Neil Lennon after the kick-off of their game against FC Copenhagen was delayed. It’s still not known what the specific actions were.
So it seems Lennon is speaking from experience here.
Celtic also received a UEFA punishment in 2020 due to having too many players booked in a Europa League match with Lille.
Could Celtic fell the force of the governing body for such a trivial matter on Tuesday night? Well, with how stringent UEFA are with their rules, I wouldn’t put it past them.
