SAD DEPARTURE:Sean Dyche confirmed the departure of Jarrad Branthwaite few minutes ago
Mark Goldbridge has laughed at the idea of Everton having to sell Jarrad Branthwaite to fierce rivals Liverpool, having rejected Manchester United’s advances for the defender.
Rumours emerged on Sunday (18 August) that Branthwaite could cross the divide [Liverpool Echo], although these claims are unsubstantiated.
None the less, talkSPORT presenter and social media influencer Goldbridge has taken great delight in the speculation.
He posted on his personal X account [18 August]: “Imagine Everton have to sell Branthwaite to Liverpool because they messed up a deal with us lol. Sure their fans will be ecstatic with that.”
Jarrad Branthwaite will not be leaving Everton
The first half of the summer transfer window was dominated by talk of Branthwaite potentially being on his way out of Goodison Park.
At one point, those suggestions did stand up as the Toffees were in an uncertain period with regards to finances – which is admittedly still the case.
However, while the takeover situation remains unclear, the club do not appear to be in desperate need to bring in funds for the time being.
Indeed, it was made clear to Manchester United that no offers below the mammoth amount Everton were after would be accepted.
The Red Devils have since moved on and recruited other targets, while talk of Branthwaite leaving Everton has gone quiet – until now.
Regardless of what has been written, there is absolutely no chance the club will consider selling Branthwaite to Liverpool – not in a million years.
Branthwaite will not be an Everton player forever, but when he does eventually move on – hopefully a few years from now – it will not be to ‘them’.
