Rodgers could get Kyogo firing by unleashing Celtic “threat” who “causes havoc” – opinion
Early in Celtic’s clash against RB Leipzig, Trusty suffered a painful ankle sprain after landing awkwardly from a header.
The injury initially seemed severe enough to force him off the pitch, but Trusty’s determination spurred him on.
Fueled by the electric atmosphere at Celtic Park, ignited by the Champions League anthem and the deafening support of the home crowd, Trusty chose to push through the pain.
He described the experience as one he’d dreamed of since childhood, a night where no injury would keep him from fulfilling a lifelong aspiration.
“I rolled my ankle pretty bad and it was hurting for the rest of the game,” he told RecordSport.
“How did I get through it? Just the atmosphere. You play for these nights – you live for them. I was a little kid in my bedroom dreaming of playing on that field, in that environment. So I wasn’t going to let a little ankle sprain bring me down.
“The whole night was amazing. When I came here, I had heard all the stories. I made my debut in the Champions League (against Slovan Bratislava) but it was only for a small amount of minutes.
“To start the game on Tuesday night and just be in there, in that mindset, was a dream come true for me. It was just incredible. The games come so quick and fast here. That’s hard but it’s also a blessing. I have such big, important games to play for a historic club. And in every game, you just want to give your all and give your best.”
His grit played a significant role in Celtic’s 3-1 triumph over the German side, a result that significantly bolstered their hopes of advancing to the knockout stages. Brendan Rodgers’ decision to pair Trusty with Cameron Carter-Vickers in central defense was validated, as the duo managed to thwart Leipzig’s potent attacking lineup effectively.
After four games, Celtic have seven points, putting themselves in a great place.
