Rangers superstar: I think my presence is no longer needed am leaving..

Ianis Hagi is set to reject the chance to leave Rangers for his native Romania, sources have told Football Insider.

Recent reports have suggested that giants FCSB have made an offer to bring Hagi, 25, back to his home country.

The Scottish window slammed shut on Friday (30 August) but Romanian clubs can sign players until 9 September.

The stumbling block is believed to be his current salary, which sources say is well in excess of £20,000-a-week.

He is also in line for a wage increase if he plays his 100th game for Rangers, and has been banished to the B team as a result.

Hagi spent last season out on loan at La Liga side Alaves but returned to Ibrox over the off-season.

He boosted his profile with good performances for Romania at the European Championships but is out of favour with Rangers boss Philippe Clement.

The attacking midfielder hasn’t featured in any of Rangers’ first four games this season, but he is under contract until 2026.

Hagi is training with the club’s B team as his future is decided – with transfer windows still open across minor leagues in Europe and the Middle East.

He has notched 16 goals and 21 assists since joining Rangers from KRC Genk in 2020.

The 25-year-old was an integral part of the side which lifted the Scottish Premiership in the 2020-21 campaign.
