Rangers in ‘sorry state’ as Scott Wright looks set for Birmingham City move after latest update

Dan Bardell believes Scott Wright joining Birmingham City shows the poor state that Rangers find themselves in at the moment.

The 27-year-old has started three games for the Gers to begin this season but now looks set to depart Ibrox before the 30 August transfer deadline.

Sky Sports reported to their live blog on 27 August (10:45am) that the ex-Scotland youth international has already travelled to the Midlands to undergo a medical and sign his contract.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell felt that this deal summed up everything wrong with Rangers and Scottish football right now.

Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, Bardell said: “If he goes and they can sign a replacement who they see an upgrade then it isn’t a bad move.

“If he’s been playing at the start of the season then chances are that he’s going to get more football throughout the season.

“Birmingham are on the rebuild in League One but I think it’s a sorry state of affairs that moving there is seen as a decent move from Rangers.

“As a Rangers fan, I’m not sure how I would feel about a potential starter, going to play in England in League One rather than Rangers.“

Scott Wright to leave Rangers for Birmingham City

It has been no secret that the wide midfielder has been looking at a move away from Ibrox throughout the summer and now it looks set to go through.

There have been no shortage of teams interested with even Sheffield Wednesday from the Championship involved in talks.
