Rangers player ratings v Aberdeen: McCausland disastrous, teammate 3/10

Rangers travelled to face Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership knowing that their main focus was elsewhere.

Barry Ferguson’s side drew 0-0 with Athletic Bilbao in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final, and with the second leg in the Basque Country coming up, Aberdeen was not the priority

.

erguson made a lot of changes to the side which drew at Ibrox on Thursday, and several big hitters were rested.

Rangers were still in pursuit of a positive result, but endured a tough afternoon at Pittodrie as they went down to 10 men and conceded twice before half time, but found an equaliser in the dying seconds when all hope seemed lost.

Rangers player ratings v Aberdeen

Liam Kelly: – 5

Kept his place ahead of Jack Butland, but could have done better for the free-kick goal from Leighton Clarkson. Got a hand to the ball but could not keep it out.

Rafael Fernandes – 5

Found himself under heavy Aberdeen pressure at times before coming off injured in the 20th minute.

Robin Propper – 4

Kept his place despite his red card against Athletic Club. Did little to convince Ferguson he should keep it beyond today.

Clinton Nsiala – 5

The best of the makeshift back three. Tidy on the ball at times.

Ross McCausland – 2

Some wayward crosses at times. Careless throughout and could have no complaints about his red card from a reckless tackle when already on a yellow card.

Nedim Bajrami – 4

Quiet overall in another underwhelming display before being substituted. Rangers still yet to decide what his best position is.

Connor Barron – 3

Faced heavy booing on his return to Aberdeen every time he was on the ball. Let the pressure get to him as he gave away the free-kick leading to the first goal.

Findlay Curtis – 4

The inexperienced teenager was thrown into difficult circumstances as one of a number of changes. Beaten too easily in the build-up to the second goal by Shane Morris. Attacked well on a few occasions.

Danilo – 4

Some really poor touches when receiving the ball in attacking areas. Threatened with his runs but little quality in the final third.

Hamza Igamane – 7

Weak in the duel and physically overwhelmed at times in difficult circumstances in the first half. Had a goal disallowed at the end of the first half. Scored with an excellent finish at the start of the second.

Oscar Cortes – 6

Drove forward well at times in trying circumstances. Often dispossessed too easily. Substituted at half time.

Substitutes

James Tavernier – 5

Forced to come on in the first half. Drove forward well at times, but his crosses were disappointing.

Jefte – 5

Secure on the ball after coming on at half time. Assisted the equalising goal.

Mohamed Diomande – 6

An improvement on Danilo, and stronger in duels.

Ianis Hagi – 7

Failed to contribute much until the final seconds, in which he scored a rocket to equalise.

Cyriel Dessers – 5

Did not make an impact until the final minute, in which he hit the post in the build-up to Hagi.
