Rangers get deadline day £3m playmaker contract decision

Rangers fans who gave in early on transfer deadline day and went to bed will be waking up to a surprise or two.

Nedim Bajrami is reported to be a done deal and Samuel Edozie is in advanced talks to move to Ibrox too after six clubs chased his signature.

The transfer saga of the summer has been Ianis Hagi with the Rangers playmaker being the subject of varying reports on a daily basis, the latest though, is good news.

Ianis Hagi accepts new Rangers contract terms

According to David Edgar of Heart and Hand, the £3m signing has accepted a new contract to stay at Rangers on reduced terms.

Hagi was the subject of late interest from Rapid Bucharest that he knocked back and then on deadline day from FCSB.

Now though, he looks set to return to the fold and could even be back in time for Rangers trip to Parkhead to face Celtic.

He’s won there before and has a record of played five, won three, drawn one and lost one.

That is the sort of mentality that Rangers need in the squad this season.

He professed his love for Rangers in an emotional social media post, but he has gone further by taking a wage cut.

That shows commitment to the cause.

Hagi sacrifice the type of attitude Clement is looking for

Philippe Clement has been a frustrated manager throughout the transfer window and there was always one major problem – having to move players out:

“It’s going to be very difficult [to add to the squad if they don’t leave] I think, yes.

“It has to do with money. It has to do with high wages from the past and replacing them with players with lower wages to do something for now and for the future of the club.

“I don’t know which bids come in, I really don’t know because I’m not interested in that because I’m busy with the squad.

“There’s no reason for me to know every bid that comes in for a player or for what amount because I’m not the one who makes the decision about the money in the club.”

Hagi could have left Rangers but appreciates what he has.
