Rangers deal for Manchester United ace Hannibal Mejbri gets green light
Dan Bardell thinks Rangers should sign Hannibal Mejbri from Manchester United after a difficult loan spell with Sevilla last season.
Fabrizio Romano revealed on 14 August to GIVEMESPORT that the Gers “like” the Tunisia international and face competition from plenty of sides to sign him.
The 21-year-old spent the second half of last campaign with Sevilla but was only afforded six appearances in Spain.
Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell believes the Light Blues should move for the midfielder and hand him the chance to revamp his career.
Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, Bardell said: “He’s definitely got a future. Whenever I’ve seen him play he’s been very tenacious.
“Manchester United did have high hopes for him so he hasn’t just become a bad player overnight because a loan move hasn’t worked out.
“For Rangers, I think that would be a good signing. He can go there and rebuild himself at a big club. Just because a player has had a bad loan doesn’t mean they lose their ability – sometimes it happens.
“I think he’d be a decent pick-up for Rangers on a permanent or even on loan.“
The Red Devils’ academy product has been a fan favourite at Old Trafford and even on his season-long loan spell with Birmingham City.
This is due to his attitude in the midfield and ability to get up and down the pitch in a tireless way.
If the Tunisia star is looking for a way out of Manchester, a move to Glasgow with the Light Blues could prove to be a great option for all parties.
After losing John Lundstram and Ryan Jack during the summer window, Mejbri could prove to be a useful player in midfield for Phillipe Clement.
His tenacious play alongside a more technical player like Connor Barron could be a perfect balance in the middle of the park to propel the Gers’ title bid.
In other Rangers news, Ben Davies departure could allow Philippe Clement to land new targets.
