Rangers agree deal to sign UEFA Champions League side’s captain in heavy blow to the club
Rangers have now agreed a deal to sign a UEFA Champions League side’s club captain in a significant transfer move.
Philippe Clement is looking to make headline additions to his squad in an attempt to wrestle the Scottish Premiership title away from Celtic next season, and a top player is now on his way to Ibrox.
So, who have Rangers agreed to sign? Let’s take a look…
Rangers strike Robin Propper agreement
A story from De Telegraaf now claims that Rangers have agreed a deal to sign FC Twente No.3 Robin Propper.
The Dutch news outlet describe the development as a “heavy blow” for FC Twente ahead of the Eredivisie outfit’s UEFA Champions League qualifying match against Red Bull Salzburg.
De Telegraaf do not state the exact amount Rangers will pay for Propper, although it is said that “several million” pounds will be handed to FC Twente.
It is also said that FC Twente did not want to lose the 30-year-old this summer, but have no intention of blocking him from experiencing what is described as a “dream” transfer for the central defender.
Propper made 40 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring three goals, and now looks set to leave FC Twente three years before his contract expires in July 2027.
Ben Davies and Leon Balogun will be nervous
This is one of those signings every fan tends to adore.
Propper is a vastly experienced player who boasts 378 career appearances to his name, and his leadership qualities should enable him to hit the ground running in Glasgow.
Clement should have no need to slowly bed the man from Arnhem into his side, as he will surely be able to handle whatever is thrown at him at the age of 30 – and having also captained FC Twente
