Postecoglou confirms new role for Tottenham player; improved attacking numbers expected
Tottenham Hotspur enjoyed an exciting win against West Ham United at White Hart Lane last weekend as Ange Postecoglou’s side returned to winning ways in a thunderous 4-1 win, and Swede international Dejan Kulusevski was pivotal in giving the Lilywhites the assured three points, which showed the former Juventus’ man’s growing creative influence on the side.
The 24-year-old not only netted the equaliser but was also integral in offensive as well as defensive phases of the game, showing his grind and work rate under the Greek-born tactician.
Postecoglou praises Kulusevski development
And after the game, the former Celtic head coach was vocal about Kulusevski, who has been putting in some splendid performances from the central areas, which have unlocked angles and facets that we didn’t see from him when donning the Spurs badge. The Australian has credited the shift and acknowledged how Dejan has a knack to get out of tight spaces while also ensuring that he makes his influence felt.
Ange made a note that the 24-year-old has made massive progress in his creative abilities while insisting that Kulu can dig deeper to get more goals and assists from the midfield.
Speaking in his post-game interview (via. TBR), Tottenham’s head coach said:
“Yeah, he has been doing that all year and the evolution of Deki as a player, that is now his role not just for us but he’s playing there for the national team too.”
“He’s got this ability to get out of tight spaces and he’s a really strong runner. He is relentless in his running capacity and he also has the quality.”
“In that final third, I still think we can get more goals out of him, more assists but he is constantly in those threatening areas and he’s been outstanding for us all year.”
