Philippe Clement has paid tribute to Cyriel Dessers after the Rangers hitman took his tally to five for the season.

 

The much-maligned Nigerian was given a standing ovation at Hampden yesterday as he made way for Danilo with 66 minutes on the clock. Dessers was on for a hat-trick after netting a double in the 6-0 thrashing of Ross County but was sacrificed for Brazilian striker Danilo, who struck his first goal since returning from a nightmare six-month injury lay-off to cap off a sublime day for the Light Blues.

 

Clement made a point of grabbing a smiling Dessers as he was substituted and the Belgian was full of praise for the 29-year-old, saluting him as the ultimate ‘team player’.
