Philippe Clement sack update claim shared by Sky Sports pundit after Rangers v Celtic

Sky Sports pundit Kris Boyd claims he does not fear that Philippe Clement will be sacked by Rangers despite the Celtic loss.

Boyd believes that after the long-term contract signed by the Belgian, the board will not turn on him this quickl

Clement put pen to paper to a new deal in August that will keep him at Ibrox until the summer of 2028.

Boyd told Scottish Sun Sport at 8:58: “I don’t fear for Philippe Clement because of the solidarity with the long-term contract. It was seen as ‘We’re all together’.

“I don’t think inside a few months you can change that

“Philippe Clement has been the man who’s been tasked to reducing the Rangers wage bill.”

Philippe Clement must quickly prove his doubters wrong at Rangers

Boyd’s assertion that Clement’s job is secure despite the recent defeat to Celtic hinges on the significant backing the manager received with his long-term contract extension.

This move by the club’s board not only reflects their faith in Clement’s vision but also signals a commitment to a longer-term strategy, likely involving squad overhaul and financial restructuring.

Keeping him on board for now makes a lot of sense as it avoids the instability of managerial changes, which could further disrupt the team’s dynamics.

However, this backing comes with the expectation that Clement will demonstrate his coaching acumen.

He’s tasked not just with managing the team but with improving the players at his disposal, which includes integrating new signings, developing the younger players and enhancing the overall squad’s performance.

Clement’s success will be measured by his ability to turn around the team’s fortunes, showing tangible improvements in playstyle, results and player development, thereby justifying the board’s trust and the long-term investment in his leadership.
