Rangers flop Pedro Caixinha is reportedly in contention to land the top job at Brazilian state champions Gremio.

The 53-year-old, who’s infamous stint at Ibrox in 2017 lasted just 26 games and included a humiliating exit to Luxembourgian minnows Progres Niederkorn in qualifying for theEuropa League, has been in charge of fellow Brazilian club Red Bull Bragantino – part of the Austrian energy drinks global football franchise – since December 2022, leading the team to a third place finish in the Sao Paulo state championship last year.

But according to Brazilian outlet ‘Band’, the well-travelled Portuguese coach has been offered the managerial position at Gremio. They add that despite leading the team to back-to-back Rio Grande do Sul state league titles, current boss Renato Portaluppi’s future is unclear, and that Caixinha – who has one year remaining on his deal at Bragantino – is the leading candidate to replace him if an agreement can be reached.
