Nottingham Forest declare Emmanuel Dennis not wanted on city ground again

Nottingham Forest have some business to do in January when it comes to outgoings, with a few players no longer required at the City Ground.

Nuno Espirito Santo has had to deal with a number of injuries already in the current campaign, which has left the squad slightly stretched at times.

Nottingham Forest have the likes of Willy Boly and Harry Toffolo out of contract in the summer, with a new contract not looking like an option for the pair.

There have been reports that Willy Boly has received an offer from Saudi Arabia ahead of the summer.

It’s believed that Boly leaving in January isn’t a possibility, due to the fact it could leave Forest short and they like having his experience to call upon.

However, there is one player who could be on his way out of the door in January, as he’s deemed surplus to requirements at the City Ground.

Emmanuel Dennis could leave Nottingham Forest in January

Emannuel Dennis has been a forgotten man at Nottingham Forest after joining for £20 million all the way back in the summer of 2022.

The last time he appeared for Forest was in May of 2023 against Crystal Palace.

He has been on loan at Basaksehir and Watford since then, but hasn’t secured a permanent move.

Now, according to the Athletic, Dennis is the only senior player who has not been part of the first-team squad and he remains surplus to requirements.

Other players could move on, but not because they are not wanted.

Nottingham Forest’s striker options

It’s passed the point of return for Emmanuel Dennis at Nottingham Forest.

Selling Dennis in January seems like a likely option given his distinct lack of football since returning from his loan spell in the summer.

Forest are short on numbers at striker, with Taiwo Awoniyi and Chris Wood the only options, and Dennis hasn’t even been given a thought, which shows just how out of favour he is.

Having signed for £20 million, it’s unlikely they’ll get anywhere near that if he was to be sold permanently in the summer, but some kind of fee is better than nothing.
