Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United squad will have a familiar feel to it as they head to West London for Sunday’s Premier League game with Chelsea.

The Magpies head coach would have liked to had Callum Wilson available to him this afternoon, but the Newcastle No 9 is again missing as Howe confirmed he wasn’t yet ready to rejoin the squad. Wilson has only played six games in 2024 and picked up a back injury that has kept him out of action all season. Howe revealed that while he had not picked up any new injury, the striker is still not at the stage where he can be part of a matchday squad, and will miss both games with Chelsea this week and next weekend’s St James’ Park showdown with Arsenal. There is good news for United, however, with no fresh injury concerns and another week of training under the belts of Alexander Isak and Lewis Miley. Swedish striker Isak returned against

Brighton after missing two games with a broken toe and has continued to build up his fitness.

up a foot injury at the start of pre-season, and his return to the bench against Brighton was a welcome boost for Howe. It means he has strong midfield options for the trip to Stamford Bridge, with Sean Longstaff and Joe Willock pressing Joelinton, Sandro Tonali and captain Bruno Guimaraes for a starting place

Howe is likely to keep the same back four of Tino Livramento, Fabian Schar, Dan Burn and Lewis Hall in front of goalkeeper Nick Pope, although has Lloyd Kelly and Emil Krafth on standby – but the big decision will come up front.
