Newcastle has finally rejected Kieran Trippier offer
Newcastle United are willing to sell Kieran Trippier in the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
Eddie Howe has publicly denied that the club wants to offload the full-back, but Football Insider understands that agents have been alerted to his availability in January and he will be sold for the right offer.
Football Insider had revealed (August 19) that Newcastle were prepared to accept offers for the veteran right-back even though Howe was fighting to keep him at that time.
The 34-year-old was Newcastle’s top assist maker last season, having provided 11 in all competitions while being a regular in Howe’s team.
The right-back made 39 appearances in all competitions during the 2023-24 campaign, but he has seen his game time significantly reduced this season.
Trippier has only made six Premier League appearances this season with half of those coming from the bench as he has played just 287 minutes of football.
Newcastle United are ready to cash in on Kieran Trippier
The experienced defender has yet to register any goal involvements for Newcastle this season, with his productivity drastically dropping.
Howe has preferred Lewis Hall and Tino Livramento as his first-choice full-back options this season, with both men also breaking into the international setup.
Trippier is under contract at St. James’ Park until 2026, but the Magpies are willing to cut ties with the former England international ahead of time.
The defender missed four matches this season because of a hamstring injury, but he has failed to get back into the team since then.
Football Insider previously revealed that Trippier himself had told the club he wanted to leave back in September as he was “desperate” for more game time.
Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce and Italian sides AC Milan and Atalanta had previously shown interest in signing him.
