Micah Richards fires back at Man City news account and says ‘stop tweeting nonsense’ after fan backlash

Micah Richards has hit back at a Manchester City fan account who criticised him for his comments during the club’s Premier League match against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

City survived an early scare on Sunday as they came back to win their Premier League clash against Wolves at the Molineux Stadium.

An early strike from Jorgen Strand Larsen put the hosts in the lead but City defender Josko Gvardiol found the equaliser before half-time and a controversial injury-time header from John Stones sealed the victory for the visitors.

But following the big win for City, former player Richards has hit out at one fan account that took to social media to criticise hime for his comments on Sky Sports regarding the late winner from Stones.

Posting on social media platform X, the fan account wrote: “Micah Richards says that Stones goal shouldn’t have been allowed. He will say anything to keep that job at Sky Sports. He is a fool.”

And Richards was not happy with his integrity being questioned, as he swiftly responded to the post with with a quote reply, writing: “Stop tweeting nonsense. I said I wasn’t convinced that Jose Sa was set. I’m still not… but when Stones heads the ball, there’s no question Silva’s not interfering.”

“Correct decision to give the goal.”

Alongside his reply, Richards included a clip from his post-match punditry on Sky Sports, showing exactly what he said about the incident.

The controversy surrounding the goal from Stones came as the goal was initially disallowed on-field as Bernardo Silva was in an offside position in the proximity of Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa.

The Portuguese winger’s offside position and a nudge that he gave Sa were both seen to have interfered with play and allowed Stones to put the ball past the keeper, but a VAR check later overturned this decision and the goal was given.
