Lyall Cameron to Rangers: ‘Late January deal on the cards’
Rangers are looking to sign Dundee midfielder Lyall Cameron on a cut-price deal in the January transfer window.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson believes that the 22-year-old would “improve what they’ve got.”
Cameron is out of contract at the end of this season, therefore the January transfer window is Dundee’s final opportunity to cash-in on the Scotland Under-21 international.
Well-placed sources have told Football Insider that the Gers are looking for players who are coming toward the end of their contract in this window to sign players on a cheaper basis due to their financial restrictions.
Cameron is a proven commodity in the Scottish Premiership who could slot into the starting lineup, having scored eight goals and provided seven assists this season in 28 games across all competitions.
Rangers are monitoring Lyall Cameron
“Those are the type of players aren’t they? Campbell, Lyall Cameron,” Robinson told Football Insider.
“These are the type of players whose contracts are coming to an end.
“The Rangers scouting networks [is] having to work overtime, isn’t it?
“[He’s an] extremely talented player, looking at his stats, 22 games, 5 goals, 4 assists this season.
“So, he’s the type of player that if Rangers can scoop up on for a minimal fee in January, these two are the type of players that would bolster the squad and improve what they’ve got for sure.”
