Leeds United are set to sign a player Everton were told to pay £34m for just last summer

Leeds United are about to make UD Almeria’s Largie Ramazani their fifth signing of the summer, but that has to be the start of a major recruitment drive over the next eight days.

Ramazani flew over from Spain to Leeds on Wednesday night and is set to undergo a medical, with the 23-year-old needing to be registered by midday today to be available at Sheffield Wednesday.

Leeds have agreed to pay a fee of just under £10 million inclusive of add-ons, with Ramazani set to come in and finally be the replacement for Crysencio Summerville.

Ramazani is one of four signings who could happen between now and the August 30 deadline, something which Farke has made clear on multiple occasions.

With Farke suggesting there would be no incomings before the trip to Hillsborough, Ramazani is certainly a nice surprise, providing he can get done in time.

What Everton were once told trying to sign Largie Ramazani

Ramazani is a decent coup at this level considering he has spent the last two seasons playing in La Liga, all be it in a very poor Almeria side last season.

He is someone Leeds have been trying to sign for a couple of weeks now, though interest in the likes of Jack Clarke had put talks on the back-burner.

And while he may not necessarily have the reputation of Clarke at this level, he has not been short of interest from English clubs, and more specifically in the Premier League.

According to AS, Everton made an attempt to sign him back in January 2023 but were met with a firm response about his price tag.

It is a rule in Spanish football that every player must have a release clause in his contract, and it is said when Everton made an enquiry to pay his £34 million (€40 million) or leave the negotiating table.

Given that Leeds have now agreed a deal of under £10 million to sign him in the Championship, that certainly bodes well for the chances of him being a success.
