Leeds United now waiting on Everton transfer decision to close horrific saga once and for all .
With Rasmus Kristensen seemingly on his way to sealing a permanent Leeds United exit, only Jack Harrison would then remain with an active loan clause in his Elland Road contract.
Relegation from the Premier League is damaging for any club, but losing several key first team players on loan deals sanctioned through exit clauses is a whole new sort of disaster.
After a year in the EFL, Leeds ridded themselves of most, but two remain that could very soon become just one player: Jack Harrison.
The other player with an active loan clause is Rasmus Kristensen, but his form at Eintracht Frankfurt could put an end to the loan cycle soon.
According to Florian Plettenberg, the Dane’s permanent transfer to Eintracht is “already decided”, with the Bundesliga side very happy with his performances:
Kristensen is the second player to have joined Eintracht on a loan clause, linking up with centre-back Robin Koch after his loan in 23/24, followed by a pre-contract agreement and free transfer.
If Kristensen becomes a full-time Eintracht player, that leaves the 49ers with only one player who turned their back on the club through these clauses – Harrison.
With that, the club will now be hopeful that reports of Everton wanting to complete a permanent deal in “due course” are true.
Many factors play into discussions over Harrison’s future at Everton, those being Leeds’ promotion bid, Everton’s takeover finally being pushed through, and their own league status being under threat too.
That said, all signs from the player’s situation and Leeds point towards a swift solution and permanent agreement being the best bet, something Leeds might want to wrap up soon.
Should Leeds agree to such a deal, it could represent a significant boost to PSR in 2025 alongside Kristensen bringing in eight figures too.
