Kenny McLean addresses Rangers transfer links as Norwich star provides honest take

Kenny McLean insists he is fully committed to Norwich amid links to Rangers and other clubs.

The Light Blues were said to be lining up a move for the boyhood fan of the club as they look to add steel to their midfield amid their rebuild, and also add to their homegrown quota for Europe. Amid the links to the Ibrox club, there were some reports suggesting it could be a goer, while some claimed it had fallen apart due to wage demands.

The Scotland international signed a new three-year deal, with the option of one extra, with the Canaries last season, won their player of the season award and is also their vice-captain. That means it would likely take a significant fee to prise him away, even at the age of 32.

McLean also insists the fact he committed to the club last summer means something and he has every intention of honouring that contract.

He told Norwich Evening News: “I don’t think that I need to speak too much on it, to be honest, in terms of if it’s true or not. It isn’t affecting me at all. I’m here, I want to be here and I’ll continue to be here. I’m looking forward to Oxford.

“I’ve always had a good relationship with the fans and I’ll continue that for the next couple of years. I hope it [the contract] does speak volumes. It was a pretty similar situation last year when there was talk and I committed my future to the football club. The football club also committed to me. I don’t see why that would change.”
