Ibrahim Adel orders club to accept Rangers bid for him, deadline-busting transfer lined up

Ibrahim Adel orders club to accept Rangers bid for him, deadline-busting transfer lined up

Egypt forward Ibrahim Adel has asked to leave Pyramids FC after an offer from Rangers, according to Al-Watan Sport.

The Egyptian news outlet reported on Tuesday (27 August) that Premier League sides Ipswich and Leicester have also made moves for the 23-year-old winger.

It is understood that Adel has spoken with Pyramids FC’s executive director Mamdouh Eid, asking him to accept the bids for him so that he can pursue his dream of playing in European football.

Al-Watan’s source says that Eid told Adel that he won’t be sold until after Pyramids have played their Egypt Cup matches. They play their semi-final against Al Masry on Tuesday with the final taking place on Friday (30 August), which is deadline day in Scotland.

Rangers bid for Adel to go right down to the wire

Pyramids have every right to do this to Adel.

They have a seriously important game coming up against Al Masrvy and if they win that, they’ll be in the Egypt Cup final against ZED FC on Friday.

However, the problem for Rangers is that the Egypt Cup final takes place just hours before the summer transfer window closes.

Adel is a key player for Pyramids.

He’s spent his entire professional career with the New Cairo club, playing 134 times for them in all competitions.

Last season, he scored seven goals and supplied two assists in 17 Egyptian Premier League appearances. He then represented Egypt at the Olympics, scoring three goals – two of them against eventual gold medals Spain.

Rangers have had a busy summer but the last few weeks have been fairly quiet due to a lack of funds at Ibrox.

Other clubs seem to know that so they could receive some late, lowball bids for players who they’re open to getting rid of.

If that happens, the money could be raised to buy Adel, but not until after that Egypt Cup final, if Pyramids get there.

In other Rangers news, at least four last-gasp exits could be sealed.
