Hugh Keevins in disbelief over what Philippe Clement said after Rangers loss v Aberdeen
Philippe Clement deserves to be sacked after suggesting Rangers played one of their best games of the season during the 1-0 loss to Aberdeen on Wednesday.
That is according to Hugh Keevins, who has hit out at the Gers manager for his words after the disappointing result at the Pittodrie Stadium on 30 October.
The defeat leaves the Light Blues nine points adrift from the top of the Scottish Premiership table, with Celtic and Aberdeen leading the way after 10 matches, and emotions are running high at Ibrox.
Writing via the Daily Record on Sunday (3 November), Keevins said: “For the Ibrox manager to tell journalists that his team had delivered one of their better performances this season was an insult to their intelligence and that of the fan base.
“It was so inflammatory a comment as to provide grounds for dismissal if the board were of a mind to take account of the outside noise coming from their paying customers.”
Philippe Clement surely joking after Rangers comments v Aberdeen?
Suggesting that the Gers played their best game of the season against the Dons and still lost will do nothing to settle the angry fans at Ibrox.
The Belgian’s side are already nine points behind the league leaders at this point in the season, which is unacceptable as a Rangers boss, but Clement seems to be relaxed about the situation.
There has already been a lot of talk about who could replace him at the helm, with Kilmarnock’s Derek McInnes and Aberdeen’s Jimmy Thelin being mooted, but it remains to be seen who would want to take over.
