Celtic through a bit of a curveball into the mix by producing a defensive masterclass against Atalanta in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
It provides the whole club with a bit of a boost that they can compete with some of the best in Europe’s elite competition on the road.
You don’t blame the Celtic fans for having a negative mindset in the Champions League after Brendan Rodgers watched his team concede seven to Borussia Dortmund last time out.
But now, Celtic’s clean sheet against Atalanta has made things slightly interesting, especially with an away trip to Aston Villa in the pipeline.
Boyhood Celtic fan John McGinn will lead his side out at Villa Park, with the game set to be the final match of the league phase.
On paper, the duo have already played their toughest fixtures – Dortmund away and Bayern Munich at home, respectively.
But, for Simon Jordan, those fixtures don’t excite him because he’s looking forward to January 28.
Simon Jordan ‘fascinated’ by Celtic’s Champions League clash against Aston Villa
Domestic football in Scotland always takes verbal hits and Jordan is always one to stick to boot in, as he confessed himself.
The former Crystal Palace owner stated that he ‘constantly derides’ the Scottish league, but Celtic’s trip to Villa Park is an ‘interesting one’, as he told talkSPORT.
You suppose this is Celtic’s chance to prove that there is far more life in Scottish football because if the Bhoys win, then you won’t hear the end of it.

“What I would be fascinated to see is when we have the battle of Britain,” said Jordan. “We constantly deride, well I do, the Scottish league.
“Celtic are going to be playing Villa at Villa Park, so that will be an interesting one.”
