Heartbreaking:Edson Álvarez announced a heartbreaking contract dismissal just now

West Ham had a busy summer transfer window, with the Hammers backing new manager Julen Lopetegui in a big way.

The east London made a number of top signings with Max Kilman, Jean-Clair Todibo and Crysencio Summerville all making the move to West Ham, with the Irons looking to qualify for Europe next season.

West Ham’s actual performances, though, have not been anything to write home about, with the London Stadium side this weekend securing their best win of the season after a dramatic late result against Manchester United.

And now, one player West Ham missed out on the summer is now back on the radar for the Premier League side.

West Ham back in contact with Colombia international Jhon Arias

According to RTI Esporte, West Ham have revived their interest in Fluminense winger Jhon Arias, with the 27-year-old attacker also attracting a transfer approach from an unnamed Ligue 1 side after a breakout 2024.

West Ham were interested in signing Arias in the summer, yet the Hammers were unable to reach an agreement to bring the Colombia international to east London as the Irons instead turned their attention to other players.

Noted by Target Scouting as a forward with ‘supreme’ technical quality, Arias has been in fantastic form this season for club and country, with the West Ham target already bagging 13 goals and eight assists in all competitions.

Although goals haven’t been a problem for West Ham this season, more depth in the wide-attacking positions could be ideal for the Hammers in the January window, and Arias could be an ideal signing from an untapped market.

Arias is ready for the Premier League in 2025

A 23-cap Colombia international who has now become a star in Brazil with one of the biggest clubs in South America in Fluminense, it’s safe to say that Arias is ready for a big move when the January transfer window opens.

And West Ham and the Premier League could be an ideal move for the 27-year-old attacker, who is in his prime and putting up the numbers that could make Arias a real hit in east London under Lopetegui.

Indeed, a transfer fee should not be a problem for West Ham, and with the parties now back in contact, there’s a real chance that the Irons can get a deal across if they’re persistent enough in the coming weeks.
