HERE WE GO:Pittsburgh Steelers two key players will not return next…due to..

The Pittsburgh Steelers officially released their first practice/injury report of the 2024 season on Wednesday afternoon, and fans can be pleased to see that several players have made some progress in their returns from recent injuries.

Unfortunately, two players missed practice entirely with a “DNP” tag, however.

So, let’s get into it. Here’s a full breakdown of Steelers injury report for Wednesday, September 4 ahead of their Week 1 meeting with the Atlanta Falcons.

Steelers injury report: Wednesday, September 4

DNP: LG Isaac Seumalo (pectoral), DE Logan Lee (calf)

Limited: WR Roman Wilson (ankle), CB Cory Trice Jr. (groin), RB Jaylen Warren (hamstring), OT Troy Fautanu (knee)

Starting left guard Isaac Seumalo missing Wednesday’s practice was no surprise, having been preemptively ruled out by HC Mike Tomlin on Tuesday. Second-year OL Spencer Anderson will get the start in his absence for Week 1.

Meanwhile, three players who Tomlin noted some optimism on for Week 1, including OT Troy Fautanu, RB Jaylen Warren and WR Roman Wilson all practiced in a limited fashion with their respective injuries. Warren has reiterated consistently that he plans to be ready to play in Week 1, but Fautanu and Wilson were both bigger question marks.

The initial depth chart for Week 1 had Broderick Jones listed as the starting right tackle, but It still seems like the team’s long-term plans are to start Fautanu at right tackle. Perhaps, once he’s healthy, we’ll see the coaching staff make that switch while Jones and Dan Moore Jr. battle at left tackle.

Wilson’s return would also be key for this team, who missed out in the Brandon Aiyuk sweepstakes this offseason and are in desperate need of some depth at the position. As it stands today, George Pickens and Van Jefferson project as their outside starters with Calvin Austin III working into the slot. Austin could remain there for the time being as they get Wilson reacclimated following the ankle injury he suffered early in training camp. However, don’t be surprised if he surges in the second half of the season as a prime scheme fit in OC Arthur Smith’s offense.
