GOOD NEWS;Philippe Clement announce the return of former super star..
Todd Cantwell has angered Rangers fans by taking a “pretty wage” while not contributing anything after putting in a transfer request, according to Derek Ferguson.
The former Ibrox midfielder has gauged the feeling from his interactions with Gers supporters as the 26-year-old trains separately from the first team and “they ain’t having him”.
Philippe Clement revealed Cantwell had twice asked to leave [Sky Sports, 25 July], and recently suggested it is Scottish football rather than specifically the Light Blues that he wants to move on from [Scottish Sun, 23 August].
And with the former Norwich ace having seemingly backed himself into a corner Ferguson is now starting to wonder about his mental state.
He spoke exclusively to Ibrox News and said: “I’m going to say something, I don’t know if it’s quite controversial. I just wonder a little bit about Todd Cantwell’s mental health.
“Clearly, and this is my opinion, I don’t think he’s thinking straight.
“As a player, aye you enjoy training, but it’s all about playing. And he’s not playing even in our B side. You wonder what he’s up to, what he’s thinking about.
“But I tell you one thing for sure, and I know, I mingle with quite a number of Rangers fans, they ain’t having him at the moment.
“They’re actually pretty annoyed and pretty upset with his actions at the minute.
“He’s basically sitting there, taking a pretty wage, and training away but not contributing whatsoever, so that’s going anger, and it has angered, a lot of the Rangers fans. Crazy.”
Philippe Clement revealed Rangers exit wish from Todd Cantwell
Tom Lawrence may have been better in an improved all-round performance from the Light Blues as Ross County were swept aside 6-0 on 24 August, but for the most part the squad has looked lacking so far this term.
That has inevitably drawn all the more focus onto the “bizarre” situation that has left him training with the B Team after asking to leave without an exit offer ready.
