GOOD NEWS:Newcastle United head coach confirmed the return of former key player…

Dominic Solanke had been linked with Newcastle United before joining Tottenham Hotspur for £65million

Callum Wilson wished former teammate Dominic Solanke “all the best” following his big-money move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs broke the bank to snatch the 26-year-old from Bournemouth – paying a reported £65million to trigger his release clause. Solanke netted 19 Premier League goals – his best-ever figures – last season to narrowly miss out on an England spot for Euro 2024.

With Tottenham lacking an out-out-striker since selling Harry Kane, they pounced on Solanke to fill the void. He must now start repaying that hefty price tag but insisted he “cannot wait” to play under Ange Postecoglou.

“It’s a magnificent club,” Solanke told Spurs TV. (It is a) huge club with ambitions that match mine, so I’m delighted to start and meet all the boys and get started.

“What excites me most about the club is how ambitious it is. A great manager, great players and I feel like (Spurs) will definitely suit my style of play as well so I cannot wait to get started and do my stuff on the pitch.”

Newcastle had been linked with the former Bournemouth star in January, with Eddie Howe playing down reports of a reunion. It was the Toon boss, then entering his final year at the Cherries, who brought Solanke to the south coast in 2019 to resurrect a stalling career.

Ironically, he soon took on Wilson’s goalscoring burden once the striker joined Newcastle a year later. The duo remain friends, with the Toon No.9 wishing Solanke well ahead of the new campaign.
