GOOD NEWS:Mark Pope confirm the return of former key player few minutes ago

With summer practices beginning, it is a time to show the talent of many players and to earn either a starting role or be a key bench player, and with a brand new team, any player can show their talent.

That is what Travis Perry has done.

Perry, who is from Lyon County, has shown his great shooting in summer workouts.

During a recent practice, Kentucky Wildcats center Andrew Carr said that Perry hit 59 corner 3s in a row. It was later revealed that Perry went 100/100 from the free-throw line and also made 90% of his 3-pointers that day.

When Perry spoke to the media in a recent press conference, he confirmed that he went 100/100 from the free-throw line during three consecutive days of practice.

“It’s pretty accurate,” Perry says. “I would say it’s accurate, yeah. That was a solid number. We had to hit 100 free throws and 100 threes. I had three days in a row I got 100/100 free throws.”

Perry also added that many of those shots did not hit the rim. His teammates have been quite impressed with his shooting.

“Travis is phenomenal,” Kerr Kriisa says. “I’ve had some pretty good shooters around me, but he’s definitely up there. And he works hard. He really does. He’s in the gym. Yesterday, I think he went four times. We get our massage, and next thing you know, he shoots again after the massage. He’s in the gym, and the results are showing.”

“I’ve seen a lot of great shooters in my four years of college,” Amari Williams says. “But we were doing a shooting test this week, and Travis is going back-to-back days making 100 out of 100 free throws. Just doing that and seeing how many threes he makes, it’s crazy.”

Perry was the all-time leading scorer in Kentucky high school basketball history, and he takes immense pride in getting to wear the UK jersey.

“You always dream of it. You always imagined what it would be like, but it’s honestly way better than you can even dream,” Perry said of wearing a UK jersey. “You get to be here every day in the best place for basketball in the world. Like, it’s incredible. The best fans in the world. You get to go out and get to go to practice every day, knowing that in a couple of months, you’ll be competing in front of them. Like it’s just, it’s just so fun.

“And then you have the mix of guys we have here this year. It’s great guys that really want everybody to come together and be a good unit. So it’s just so much fun to be able to compete and wear the Kentucky (jersey) every day.”

It’s also special for Perry to play for a former Wildcat in Mark Pope, who is ensuring that his team takes immense pride in being a Kentucky basketball player.

“Coach Pope does a great job of instilling in us what it (means). You got to get to a point to where it really means something to you,” Perry said of wearing the Kentucky jersey. “Like, not just wearing it just to wear it just like you’re wearing it because it means something to you. And that’s something that I think will be really big for us.
