Good news: four players will be coming back to Borussia Dortmund

Former Liverpool midfielder Emre Can has praised Borussia Dortmund teammate Karim Adeyemi who has been linked with a move to Anfield. Can left the Reds in the summer of 2018 as a free agent to join Juventus before eventually signing for Dortmund.

Liverpool had a quiet summer transfer window with Federico Chiesa the only new addition to the squad. Giorgi Mamardashvili will move to Anfield next after the Georgia goalkeeper spends the campaign on loan at La Liga club Valencia.

Rumours have emerged claiming that Adeyemi could be a target for Liverpool in 2025. Reports from Germany claimed that the Reds view the Dortmund attacker as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah who is out of contract at the end of the season.

It remains to be seen what happens with Salah’s future beyond the current campaign, but it seems that Adeyemi is highly rated by his teammates. Can, who is Dortmund captain and made 167 appearances for Liverpool, recently praised Adeyemi following the forward’s hat-trick performance against Celtic in the Champions League in midweek.

“He [Adeyemi] played fantastically,” Can told the Bundesliga website. “Not just today, but also in the last few weeks. He plays with more maturity and more determination. That must continue to be his aim.”

Adeyemi’s hat-trick against Celtic took his goal tally for the season up to five in all competitions, with the other two coming in the Bundesliga. Sport Bild stated that Liverpool have sent scouts to watch the Germany international in action in recent months, although a decision is yet to be made if the Reds will make a move to bring the player to Anfield.
